The purpose of the position is to direct, maintain and account for the fiscal matters of the plant, prepare financial analysis and reporting of operations for the guidance of plant and senior management, and maintain accurate, proper full cost accounting systems. This individual reports to the Corporate Controller.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES General Accounting Oversight and Leadership
- Maintains the plant’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all transactions and assets
- Manage, train, and motivate all plant accounting staff
- Responsible for all monthly accounting close activities and all other related activities
- Analyze and prepare informative reports which summarize the plant’s business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings
- Work as a partner with the Plant Manager and other key plant personnel to maximize efficiency and profitability
- Conduct monthly review of departmental financial statements with departmental managers
- Provide plant and senior management with timely reviews of the plant’s financial status including the preparation of financial statements and plant metrics
- Establish and maintain standard costs including material, labor and overhead cost components
- Maintain the plant’s Inventory and Fixed Asset subledger details
- Oversight for the plant payroll and timekeeping systems to ensure all employees are properly paid and reporting controls are utilized to properly classify employees by department and function
- Lead and participate with both internal and external audits
- Ensure all Bill of Materials are accurate, correct, and current. Ensure all standard company cost accounting practices and procedures are properly implemented and monitored. Ensure all plant financial records and data, financial controls and other items are compliant with applicable laws and procedures (e.g. GAAP, etc.) and proper activities are implemented to ensure on-going compliance
- In coordination with the Corporate Finance group, recommend and establish economic strategies, objectives, and policies
- Properly control all applicable assets of the company – Fixed Assets, Inventory, other
- Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the plant
- Coordinate the preparation of the plant budget,, maintain other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyze and report variances
- Direct supervision of all accounting department employees and managers
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Responsible for preparing, analyzing and coordinating reporting to plant and senior management
- Furnish internal reports, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnish external reports as necessary

- BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major
- 7 years of experience in manufacturing and financial accounting with management experience
- Expert computer skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Strong analytical problem solving skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply mathematical concepts and mathematical operations to such tasks as determination of test reliability and validity and analysis of variance.
REASONING ABILITIES
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee’s work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Employee is expected to maintain an organized work area and contribute to the overall decorum of a professional setting. A minimal amount of work will require exposure to the manufacturing facility. Employee is expected to be familiar and in compliance with all plant safety and cleanliness (GMP) regulations. Work days are generally Monday through Friday; however, the employee is expected to work additional, including weekend, hours as required to fulfill job duties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is important for those activities in which workers must impart oral information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl.
