Summary of Registered Dietitian

 

We are currently looking for a Registered Dietician to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Dietary Department. 

 

Duties of this position include following, in accordance with established policies and nursing standards:

 

  • Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, selection and orientation of dietary personnel
  • Maintains standards of performance for food service operation
  • Visits residents upon admission and routinely for the purpose of obtaining food preferences, determining nutritional needs, plan of care, and minimizing nutritional complications
  • Provides budgeting input
  • Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, scheduling of timely in-service training classes that provide instructions on “how to do the job," and ensure a well-education staff
  • Evaluate food handling, sanitation, preparation, service procedures and equipment.
  • Ensure proper documentation to meet all reporting requirements
  • Demonstrate strong ethical and safety practices
  • Participate in peer support / evaluation, in services, education programs, and staff meetings, and Quality Improvement activities as assigned

This position is facility based.

 Requirements

Requirements of Registered Dietician

 

Candidates for the Registered Dietician position should meet the following requirements:

 

  • BS degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition
  • Registration and membership in the American Dietetic Association
  • Licensure by state, if applicable
  • Continuing education to meet requirements for registration as set forth by the American Dietetic Association (15 hours per year)
  • At least 2 years experience as a professional dietitian in long-term care with some administrative responsibility, or 1 year’s experience as a registered consulting dietitian to one or more long-term are facilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively and positively in all interactions
  • Capable of maintaining regular attendance
  • Meeting all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam, drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry if required
