Nurse Practitioner
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Functions within the scope of practice as defined within state regulations. The physician assistant scope of practice shall be detailed in the Role Delineation as completed by the supervising physician, and the nurse practitioner scope of practice will be defined by the Integrated Practice Agreement as completed by the collaborating physician. Both the Role Delineation and the Integrated Practice Agreement shall be filed with the appropriate state licensing authority.
Assists physicians in the management of medical care for patients. Meets with the supervising physician as necessary to consult and/or review care.
Assesses the medical, physical and psychological status of patients by reviewing patient records, obtaining a comprehensive problem-oriented health history, performing a physical examination of appropriate complexity, and ordering and evaluating laboratory, x-ray, EKGs and other diagnostic studies as medically indicated.
Education/Licensure
A minimum of a Masters Degree in nursing with completion of a Nurse Practitioner program is required.
Must have a current license, as an RN in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states so license must be held in the state of your residence.
Must also be licensed in Nebraska Advanced Practice Registered Nurse APRN-NE license must be held in the state you practice.
Must have obtained an Integrated Practice Agreement and License with the Drug Enforcement Administration in Nebraska.
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say Professional Level-with AED, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
