Perform all duties involved with building, debugging, analyzing, altering and correcting new tools and production tools in a time frame that fully satisfies established lead times and production schedules with minimum supervision.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work from blueprints, sketches, concepts and verbal instructions to devise and build dies, jigs, fixture and tooling to meet requirements.
- Operation of all conventional tool room machinery and equipment and an understanding of the basic operation and concepts of all CNC equipment.
- Perform part inspection from tryouts and production in order to evaluate tooling performance to required specifications and make recommendations for alteration or repair.
- Tryout of new or existing dies in tool room and production presses.
- Diagnose and correct die and tooling difficulties.
- Assist, advise, and instruct less experienced personnel to meet required levels of performance in the technical and safety aspects of all tooling processes and operations.
- Recommend ideas for improving die concepts to positively impact tooling maintenance and production processes.
- Use of all tool room precision measuring equipment
- Regularly work to close tolerances +/-.0001 in the manufacturing of tooling components.
- Check, measure, and inspect all types of die components, and tooling for accuracy to perform stamping and forming production operations as authorized
- Confer with appropriate engineers and production departments to resolve problems.
- Active role in providing constructive input to design concept and design review meetings.
- Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.
- Knowledge of die design and or mold design and plastics materials; manual drill presses, manual milling machines, band saws, lathes, surface grinders, radius dressers, conventional EDM equipment, heat treatment equipment and all precision measuring devices
- Ability to read blue prints
- Good communication skills
- Abilities to use both hands for repetitive wrist, hand, and fingers motions
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years tool and die experience preferred
- Associate Degree in Applicable Tooling, Engineering, or Mechanical Design field preferred
