Quality Engineer at Kearney

Job Description

Eaton Corporation in Kearney, NE has an opening for a Quality Engineer. The primary focus of this position is to support all quality systems and functions, and provide leadership to the quality assurance team. Assist in establishing systems to support the Kearney plant operation, and drive continuous improvement and activities related to minimizing the costs of non-conformance.

The essential functions of this position are:

Serve as Customer and Supplier Liaison. Has responsibility and authority to ensure that customer requirements are addressed. This includes selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives and related training, corrective and preventive actions, product design and development. Conducts relevant research and failure analyzes that can provide solutions to manufacturing problems. Prepares professional reports and presentations to support internal improvement and customer needs.
2. Provide technical training to Kearney plant associates on quality systems, statistical process control, gauging, Poke-Yoke and other quality tools. This would also include support on metallurgy related issues.
3. Support all quality systems and functions, such as Machine Capabilities, control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis Plans, SPC, Receiving Inspection, Tool Inspection, Subcontractor Development, PPAPs, Corrective Actions, PFMEA and customer Contact activities.
4. Help drive continuous improvement and activities related to minimizing the costs of non-conformance and improved customer satisfaction.
5. Work directly with other Quality Personnel, Manufacturing Engineering, Line Personnel Maintenance, and Leadership Team members to problem solve and correct production and quality-related issues and implement corrective actions to eliminate Quality problems.
6. Establish quality systems that support Kearney plant teams.
7. Serve as support for TS16949 plant certification process and on-going TS16949 issues and comply with TS16949 and MESH requirements
8. Determine develop and monitor inspection techniques and gauging to meet design requirements, including new product releases and production products through production and customer requirements knowledge, and also being part of PROLaunch teams.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or business from accredited institution.
Minimum of 2 years experience with statistical analysis or SPC
Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude of quality systems.
Experience in chemical and/or environmental analysis preferred.
Demonstrated team-oriented problem-solving skills. ISO/TS 16949 certification and auditing experience preferable.
Working knowledge of hand tools, diagrams, blue prints, schematics, gauges, and measuring instruments. Ability to visually identify defective parts with appropriate gauging.
Work experience in a heat treating environment
Work experience in an automotive supplier organization
A minimum of one year experience working with Quality tools

Position Criteria:
Experience and knowledge with APQP, SPC, MSA, and GD&T required.
Required working knowledge and experience with computers, preferably with Microsoft WINDOWS applications and/or any statistical software.
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or ability to achieve certification in line with development plans is required.
Eaton Six Sigma Greenbelt training and certification (or equivalent) or ability to achieve certification in line with development plans required.
Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to work with little direction, and function in a team-oriented environment required.
