Conifer is currently hiring for a HIM Specialist.

Hours: 10am - 6:30pm and rotating Saturdays for a total of 72 hours per pay period.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

A Health Information Specialist I processes medical records of discharged patients by preparing and scanning the record into a computerized record system for permanent retention. Performs additional duties as assigned and when necessary. Proper performance results in patients and healthcare workers receiving timely and accurate information and professional staff being able to devote more time to delivery of services.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assures receipt of records daily and prepares paper medical records in proper order for scanning into an electronic format.
• Assures accuracy and quality of prepped and scanned records
• Acts as a resource to other Health Information Analysts.
• Promote customer service for all areas of responsibility as a member of the Health Information team.
• Follows department policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the Health Information Management department.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Required Education: High School diploma or equivalence

Preferred Education: College level course work, Graduate of a Health Information Technology program.

Required License: None

Preferred License: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

Required Experience: One year of experience in customer service, or office environment.

Preferred Experience: Three to five years of experience in health care, preferably in release of information or health information management.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES:

• Demonstrates knowledge of advanced computer skills.
• Detail oriented
• Ability to focus on task for extended period of time
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Protective Equipment: Little or no exposure to hazardous material

Working Environment: Office environment. May work day, evenings, nights, weekends or holidays
