Job Description
Eatons Kearney, Nebraska Automotive plant, a producer of automotive engine valves and gears, has an immediate opening for a New Products Supervisor. The primary focus of this position is to be responsible for smooth introduction of new products from conception to high volume production in the Kearney Plant. This is accomplished by identifying and confirming customers needs, communicating with Product Engineers and Sales and providing direction to the New Products Team. Partnering with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to develop new processes, capital equipment planning, and Advanced Quality Planning techniques to prepare the new products for launch.Essential functions of this position include the following:
1. Supervise the New Products Department
2. Participate in and initiate appropriate communication with the Regional Team and Sales to ensure successful quoting, new products development and sample production.
3. Communicate with Sales and Marketing to stay abreast of new customer engine programs which might have a future impact on the Kearney product or processes.
4. Using simultaneous engineering techniques, pro-actively evaluate the potential impact and interactions of new engine programs, with respect to the overall manufacturing processes, strategy and capacity of the Kearney plant.
5. Coordinate with Program Management, the regional engineering and sales teams the timing of critical milestones to assure planning and actions are timely and appropriately integrated in the PROLaunch program management tool.
6. Coordinate Kearney Safe Launch activities and participate in PROLaunch to assure Capital Appropriation objectives are met for new programs.
7. Involve Kearney employees in the new product and process development to solicit their ideas and contributions to these programs.
8. Track the progress of new product programs and samples to assure they remain on schedule according to the overall PROLaunch activity matrix, scorecards and customer requests.
9. Provide proposals with recommendations for new and unique technology, as related to a broad range of products and/or manufacturing disciplines.
10. Understand and apply contemporary quality approaches and lean manufacturing techniques.
11. Provide technical leadership in the selection, design, development, and installation of cost effective manufacturing processes and techniques.
12. Participates on the Material Review Board, Manufacturing Feasibility Reviews and Product Change Request processes.
13. Is a customer representative and performs other incidental duties as required and assigned.
Job Requirements
Basic qualifications:- Bachelor degree in business, engineering or quality from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing, including experience in supervision and engineering
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of TS 16949
- Knowledge of 8-D problem solving techniques
- Experienced in New Product Development Programs
Position Criteria:
- Advanced computer knowledge
- Technical knowledge of product design function, manufacturing processes inspection, metrology and metallurgy, statistical methods, and quality auditing
- Administrative knowledge regarding capital equipment analysis, cost accounting, project cost analysis, and organization techniques
- Administrative skills to include planning, team building, organization and time management
- Knowledge of manufacturing operation and quality methods and how these operation relate to problems within areas of responsibility
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to manage priorities and crisis situations
- Accomplished analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to present ideas and concepts to customers
