DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Review daily terminal operating plan with General Foreman, Terminal Manager and or Trainmaster. Position labor and equipment to inspect, test and repair equipment to meet the needs of the daily plan. Prepare and conduct daily safety briefing with all employees. Provide periodic updates to general foreman and transportation department on progress towards daily plan. Schedule repair for cars and locomotives at locations away from the terminal to ensure the equipment is returned to service. Provide technical support to apprentice employees and serve as decision making authority on level of repairs, accident damage assessment and derailment recovery. Ensure compliance with BNSFs employment policies, safety rules, scheduled agreements and Governmental regulations. Week-end and holiday work is required for this position. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Requires comprehensive knowledge of locomotive and/or freight car maintenance and practices to include AAR, FRA regulations and BNSF standards. Must be able to coordinate information from several sources to ensure trains are moving efficiently and properly serviced, supervise and motivate scheduled employees. Must be able to work well under pressure and express ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Proven ability to listen carefully and actively and keep others informed. Candidate should be able to inspire others to excel and demonstrate initiative and decisiveness. Must have basic accounting skills and be able to use BNSF computer generated reports PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in a leadership role is preferred. Practical hands-on experience as a mechanical department craftsman is preferred. RELOCATION: Relocation assistance may be offered for this position. TRAVEL: Travel may be required for this position.
